January 2018 – Technical Note UFS-18-01

Last month, we issued Technical Note UFS-17-07 regarding operation of STANDPIPE-PAC™ in cold weather. Further discussion with several technicians identified that far too many dry standpipe installations are not set up for proper drainage, both of naturally-occurring condensate and water used for hydrostatic testing. Technical Note UFS-18-01 provides information for installers and inspectors to make sure a main drain is installed and used on the dry standpipe, and also information on setting up a condensate drain near the STANDPIPE-PAC outlet.
